Pesto helps you save recipes from pages you visit and shop their ingredients. This policy explains what data the extension handles and what is sent to our backend.
Saved recipes — including their images — are stored only in your browser's local on-device storage. We do not have accounts, and your saved recipes are never uploaded to or stored on our servers.
To detect and structure a recipe, the extension sends the current page's content to our backend only when you take an action on that page (opening the side panel or the recipe view). This data is used solely to extract and normalize the recipe and is processed in a single request — it is not retained or stored on our servers. Our backend is stateless.
When you save a recipe, its image is downloaded directly by your browser from the recipe's own image host and stored on your device. The image does not pass through our backend.
When you choose to send a recipe to Instacart, its ingredient list is sent to our backend, which creates a shoppable page through Instacart. Pesto participates in Instacart's affiliate program.
